The project launch conference is now behind us

Yesterday, in the St John Paul II Auditorium in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, a conference was held to launch the project ‘New tourist attractions at the Sanctuary in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska – a UNESCO World Heritage Site’.

The conference provided a forum for examining Kalwaria Zebrzydowska from a variety of perspectives – historical, cultural, natural and social.

Andrzej Domański outlined the possibilities for supporting Polish culture through European Funds. Dr Andrzej Siwek recounted the history of Kalwaria Zebrzydowska’s inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List, summarising this exceptional site’s 25-year presence amongst the world’s most valuable monuments. Aneta and Maciej Filip introduced the participants to the subject of Włodzimierz Tetmajer’s unique polychromes, whilst Prof. Zbigniew Mirek outlined the contemporary environmental challenges associated with the conservation of this exceptional landscape complex.

We would like to thank all the speakers, guests and participants for attending and for an inspiring event. This is an important step towards even better protection, promotion and accessibility of one of Poland’s most valuable cultural and religious heritage sites.
