Paths that are regaining their splendour

Kalwaria 16 06

Kalwaria Zebrzydowska is not just a place – it is a story etched into the landscape. One of its most important features is the chapels along the Paths of the Mother of God, which are soon to undergo extensive conservation work.

The aim is clear: to preserve their unique character and safeguard them for years to come. The work will include, amongst other things, drying out the foundations, repairing the plasterwork and structural elements, and conserving the woodwork and roofs – all whilst paying close attention to their historical form and details.

These measures will not only improve the technical condition of the chapels and restore their aesthetic appeal, but will also help to preserve what matters most – a space conducive to prayer, reflection and spiritual experience, which has accompanied pilgrims on the Kalwaria paths for generations.

This is an investment in the sustainability of the site – both its tangible heritage and the values that shape people from within.

The project is co-financed by the European Union under the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment 2021–2027 (FEnIKS) programme.
